Quiz on Precious

Prescious writes poems, and there are some examples in the story. What role do you think poems play for her in coping with a very challenging life? Use quotes from the poems, etc... to support your thesis. Make sure to have an introduction paragraph; a body paragraph and a conclusion.

Introduction Paragraph on Marge Piercy

In Marge Piercy's poem "Barbie Doll" the image of this blonde-hair , blue-eyed female doll has afflicted girls and women for years with a sense of inadequacy, as few can measure up to her standards of beauty. A solution to this problem is to present realistic dolls with realistic physical attributes, so girls will not be so self-critical and fall into self-destructive behaviors like eating disorders. Some would argue that Barbie Dolls are benign toys for young girls, but these dolls really have an insidious hold on the sensibilities of women from generation to generation.
